Here’s what’s happening in West Seattle in the (very hot) hours ahead:
BLOCKS FROM TODAY’S BLOCK: Until 6 p.m., DIY cleaning equipment is available at Arbor Heights Elementary School (3700 block of Beach Drive SW).
DAYSTAR RETIREMENT VILLAGE JOB FAIR: Now until 2 p.m., stop by 2615 SW Barton and check out the job openings at Daystar Retirement Village (sponsor of the WSB), which promises “great profits!”
BARGAIN SHOP DAY SALE: Discovery Shop West Seattle offer 25% off everything today to celebrate National Thrift Day, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (4535 California SW)
FOOD COLLECTION DEPOSITED: Bring non-perishable food to Admiral’s Church (4320 SW Hill), 11am-1pm.
PADDING POOLS OPEN: In West Seattle today, the pools that need to be open are Delridge (12 p.m.-5.30 p.m.) and Lincoln Park (12 p.m.-7 p.m.). (Also, Highland Park Water Park at 1100 SW Cloverdale is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.) This is also the last day of the season for the South Park paddling pool (8319 8th Ave. S.), 12 p.m.-7 p.m.
COLMAN POOL: The outdoor swimming pool Lincoln Park will be open today as its 7-day-a-week schedule continues, from noon to 7 p.m.
LEARN MORE ABOUT WATER AND SALMON: Free family entertainment at Roxhill Park (2850 SW Roxbury), 12:30-2:30 p.m., with free lunch for those 18 and under (although all ages are welcome).
