Three bands from Riverside City College’s nationally renowned jazz program performed in downtown Riverside. They included the Tuesday Evening Jazz Ensemble led by Brian McNair, the Jazz Lab Band No. 1 led by James Rocillo, and the Thursday Evening Jazz Ensemble led by Steven Ragsdale.
The concert was part of a two-day program featuring six bands which continues on Friday May 13, RCC spokeswoman Peggy Lomas said.
Monday Evening Jazz Ensemble, led by Kevin Mayes and Charlie Richard.
The second concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
The concert hall will welcome two renowned musicians on Sunday, May 22.
Los Angeles Philharmonic principal trumpet Tom Hooten will give a recital at 11 a.m. that day, followed by a 4 p.m. performance by the RCC Concert Band and Wind Ensemble that will feature saxophone virtuoso Harvey Pittel, a statement said. Press.
