October 16: Concert of vocal groups Jazz Bands

MANKATO, Minnesota – Minnesota State University, contemporary jazz and vocal groups from Mankato will perform on Saturday, October 16 at 3 p.m. in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.
Douglas Snapp conducts the Maverick Jazz Big Band and the New Orleans Maverick Style Marching Band. The a cappella vocal groups Maverick Fusion and Vocal Precision are co-directed by Snapp and Stephanie Thorpe.
The band will perform the audience’s favorite songs “Funkytown” and “I Feel Good” as well as “Grazin ‘in The Grass” by Hugh Masekela.
The Jazz Mavericks Big Band performance offers a preview of their upcoming Jazz Ball on November 20, featuring work from Big Band VooDoo Daddy, Tito Puente and Michael Buble.
Maverick Fusion and Maverick Vocal Precision prepare to take part in a national a cappella festival. The vocal groups will perform a variety of works, including “Seven Bridges Road”, performed by Home Free, “Everything” by Michael Buble, “Human” by Rag’nBone Man and “Lights and Shadows” by OG3NE.
