Jazz collaborates with USF to provide 4G connectivity in rural Sindh

Jazz is working with the Universal Service Fund (USF) to provide 4G services in Kambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Naushahro Feroze and Shaheed Benazirabad districts of Sindh. Jazz will install a total of 90 cell sites, including technology upgrades, adding sectors and power upgrades to provide data and voice services to 719 mauzas that fall under the four districts.
A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed by Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, CEO of USF, and Mudassar Hussain, Vice President of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs, Jazz. Federal Minister of Informatics and Telecommunications Syed Aminul Haque, Asif Aziz, CCO, Jazz, and Federal Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar attended the contract signing ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Asif Aziz, Commercial Director of Jazz, said:
“Providing reliable mobile broadband to all of our citizens remains a key priority at Jazz. Through this collaboration with USF, 719 unserved mauzas in rural Sindh will be able to access high-speed mobile broadband, which will open up unlimited socio-economic opportunities for residents.
He also warned that the country is in a digital state of emergency and that the decision to increase the WHT on telecom users and a 17% sales tax on smartphones and laptops will push the country further behind. its global peers.
Syed Aminul Haque pledged to defend the cause of users of information technology and telecommunications before the special committee set up by Prime Minister Imran Khan to deliberate on the issue of the 15% mini-budget of WHT Telecom and a 17% sales tax on digital devices.
Asad Umar mentioned that digitization is the key to the country’s future with which billions of dollars can be added to the economy, and called for favorable policies that do not look at the IT and telecommunications sector with a lens fiscal.
“For our young people and their innovative ideas, we need policies that reduce barriers to entry, including the costs associated with connectivity, digital tools and starting a business. To this end, my full support is with IT and Telecommunications Minister Syed Aminul Haque as he seeks to revise the tax proposal.
Haaris Mahmood Chaudhry, CEO of USF, while giving details on the performance of USF and two new projects for Sindh, said that according to the directives of Federal Minister Syed Amin Ul Haq, all projects will be completed on time with high standard and quality.
