Fire-Toolz is the project of producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Marcloid Angel. I originally discovered Fire-Toolz through Adam Nely and Ben Levinit is creating an entire album in 24 hoursand was then blown away by the Eternal Abode album in 2021. Eternal Abode it’s 25 tracks and nearly 70 minutes of the most original music I’ve ever heard. Eternal Abode covers everything from sweet new age and almost vaporwave/90s video game OST-like nostalgia, to industrial destruction and viscerally distorted black metal vocals. It’s incredible.
Now Fire-Toolz is back with a brand new EP titled I won’t be using body eyes today. and we have two new singles to check out “Soda Lake With Game Genie” certainly taps into the newer type sound that’s prevalent everywhere Fire-Toolz‘s, albeit with a heavier accompaniment and some Myrone-esque solo. Then there’s “Vedic Software ~ Wet Interfacing” which sounds like a listening computer square pusher and try to figure out what’s going on.
Or, as the EP description partially puts it, “As impossible as it is to succinctly characterize Fire-Toolz track, let alone the chimerical sum of the project as a whole, I won’t be using body eyes today. offers listeners a map of the world of relative touchstones to orient them down Marcloidits winding paths.”
See. Fire-Toolz isn’t going to be for everyone, and anyone looking for a traditionally “heavy” experience with little variation is likely to lose patience quickly…but ultimately, it’s their downfall. Fire-Toolz a refreshing take on many familiar metal elements (screaming vocals, punches, etc.) recontextualizing them in a whole new way. I won’t be using body eyes today. comes out on October 11 and pre-orders are available here. I also integrate Eternal Abode below also because you really, really need to listen to it. I hope this will have the same impact on you as it did on me.
