Iran's Threat: A Maduro-Style Kidnap Mission for Trump?
In a recent statement, a senior Iranian official has sparked controversy by suggesting that Iran should capture US President Donald Trump in a manner reminiscent of the tactics used against Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. The official, Hassan Rahimpour Azghadi, a member of Iran's Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, made the following remarks:
'The Islamic Republic should do to Trump what was done to Maduro. This filthy person, the wild dog, if we capture him and slap him twice, he will howl like a dog.'
Azghadi's comments come amidst ongoing protests against the Iranian regime, which began on December 28 over economic issues and have since grown into a significant challenge to the government. The protests have been met with a brutal crackdown, resulting in the deaths of thousands of people.
President Trump has responded to the protests by repeatedly threatening to intervene in support of the demonstrators. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has urged the US to find a solution through negotiation, stating that diplomacy is a better option than war, despite the lack of positive experiences with the United States.
The tension between the two countries has escalated further with the Iranian state TV airing a threat to kill Donald Trump, and pro-Iranian regime demonstrators in Kargil displaying coffins with Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu's faces on them. The situation remains volatile, with the possibility of an American strike and ongoing protests challenging the Iranian regime.
