Unveiling the Cosmic Fusion: Formex's Essence Ceramica Dark Matter
In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Formex presents an extraordinary timepiece, the Essence Ceramica Dark Matter, a watch that pushes the boundaries of innovation and craftsmanship. This latest masterpiece combines the brand's expertise in advanced ceramic construction with a dial that tells a story from the depths of the universe.
Building upon the success of the Essence Space Ghost and the full-ceramic Essence Ceramica, Formex has created a watch that embodies two of its remarkable achievements. It unites the highly sought-after meteorite dials, which gained popularity in the steel Essence series, with the full-ceramic model, a true testament to the brand's prowess.
The Formex Essence line, introduced in 2018, has revolutionized the sports chronometer category with its patented Case Suspension System, COSC-certified movements, and an emphasis on functionality and ergonomics. Over the years, the collection has evolved, offering rugged steel and titanium editions, the captivating Space Rock and Space Ghost meteorite models, and now, the Essence Ceramica, a first-of-its-kind full ceramic masterpiece.
But here's where it gets truly intriguing... The new Dark Matter takes ambition to a whole new level. Its 41mm x 11.2mm zirconium oxide ceramic case, featuring Formex's signature suspension system, is a marvel in itself. The case, with its vertically brushed and diamond-polished surfaces, weighs a mere 56 grams, providing exceptional comfort and scratch resistance.
The dial, however, is where the magic happens. Crafted from a solid piece of Muonionalusta meteorite, the dial undergoes a proprietary dark-nickel electroplating process, enhancing the mesmerizing Widmanstätten pattern, a crystalline structure formed over millions of years in space. Unlike conventional meteorite dials, the Essence Ceramica Dark Matter's dial is fully structural, with soldered feet and a precision-milled date window, adding to its unique appeal.
Powering this cosmic creation is the Soprod Newton P092, an exclusive COSC-certified automatic caliber developed specifically for Formex. Its innovative design, with the balance wheel positioned at 6 o'clock under a transverse bridge, ensures enhanced shock resistance. Independently tested for endurance, this movement boasts a 44-hour power reserve and is visible through the sapphire back, showcasing modern black-gold finishing and a skeletonized rotor.
The full-ceramic bracelet, with its vertical brushing and micro-adjustable ceramic clasp, is a testament to Formex's attention to detail. The patented system allows for precise adjustments on the go, without the need to open the clasp or remove the watch. Additionally, alternative strap options, including rubber, nylon, and leather, with a carbon-fiber deployant clasp, offer versatility and a quick-release system for easy interchangeability.
Limited to just 100 pieces per year, the Formex Essence Ceramica Dark Matter COSC is now available for pre-order, with deliveries commencing in mid-January 2026. Priced at CHF 4,150, EUR 4,590, or USD 4,920, this timepiece is a true collector's item.
And this is the part most people miss... The technical specifications of this watch are nothing short of impressive. From the vertically brushed ceramic case with its integrated suspension system to the solid meteorite dial and the precision movement, every detail has been meticulously crafted. With a weight of only 56 grams, this watch offers an unparalleled wearing experience.
